Here is some parking information for awareness, especially now schools have returned.

For many years parking offences have been decriminalised and taken over and enforced by County Council Enforcement Officers however, this still appears to be an unknown fact by many.

The below information is to help refer you to the best suited agency.

Civil enforcement officers (CEOs) have replaced traditional Traffic Wardens and enforce a range of restrictions. Managing the enforcement of on-street regulations. District and Borough Councils manage off-street enforcement (such as pay and display car parks).

Moving traffic offences, such as contravention of an Access Only Order, remains a Police responsibility as the CEOs do not have the power to stop vehicles.

CEOs are responsible for enforcing:

limited waiting bays

double and single yellow lines

on street pay and display bays

residents’ parking zones

Blue Badge bays

loading bays

bus stops

taxi bays

school keep clears

clearways

dropped kerb access (also police)

double-parking (also police)

pedestrian crossings (also police)

car parks (with orders)

The Police are responsible for enforcing:

double white lines

obstruction – for example, pavements with no parking restrictions

dangerous parking where there are no restrictions in place, for example, on bends, brows of hills and junctions

dropped kerb access (also CEOs)

double-parking (also CEOs)

one-way traffic

box junctions

access only

white-hatched areas pedestrian crossings (also CEOs)
